Dr Samrat Sabhlok was born on 24th Nov 1982 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Due to his army background, his initial education was in various cities spanned all over India. He finished his BDS from Dr D.Y Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pune in 2005 under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and received his MDS degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery also from Dr D.Y Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pune under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in 2009. He subsequently went on to do a 1-year fellowship in cleft lip and palate surgery under Maaya Foundation and DCKH Germany in Bhubaneshwar. He also underwent training in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in Head and Neck Oncology. During his tenure of BDS, he was the recipient of various awards and scholarships. He was awarded the ‘Best out-going intern’ of Dr. D.Y Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pune in 2005. He was the recipient of ‘Scholastic Award’ honored by Indian Dental Association (IDA) for securing 2nd position in final BDS exam of MUHS University 2004. He received the national level scholarship under the Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) from Ministry of Defence, New Delhi during all the 4 years of BDS due to academic excellence. Dr Sabhlok has been actively involved in research over the years and has presented numerous scientific papers at the national level at various platforms like Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Indian Society of cleft lip, Palate and Craniofacial anomalies and Indian Dental Association (IDA). He also has several publications to his name in journals of repute. Dr Sabhlok is a Life Member of the Indian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was invited aboard the renowned ‘Life-line Express’ from 13-15th August, 2011 to operate on Cleft lip and Palate patients as a part of a charitable project. His areas of surgical interest lie in Maxillofacial trauma, Cleft lip and Palate surgeries, Temporomandibular Joint surgeries & Correction of facial deformities, Oral cancer & reconstructive surgeries and Dental Implants. He was formerly an Associate Professor in the Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Dr D.Y.Patil Dental College, Pimpri, Pune. He is currently a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon in several Hospitals and clinics in Pune.
